A different test

Emotional Intelligence

Before you start: this is not an IQ test, and your result is not an IQ score — emotional intelligence is a different kind of ability.

  1. 1Read a realistic situation.
  2. 2Pick the response that works best.
  3. 3Your EI profile, on its own scale.

A teammate goes quiet after their idea is criticized in a meeting.

Move on — the agenda is full.Ask what they think of the next point.Repeat why the idea won't work.Make a joke to move past it.

Example — not one of the test's 32 scenarios.

A different ability from IQ

IQ is about reasoning, memory, and problem-solving. Emotional intelligence is about recognizing, understanding, and managing emotions — your own and other people’s. A high score on one doesn’t predict the other.

Its own scale — never mixed with IQ

Your result is reported with its own categories. It is not an IQ number, not a percentile against an IQ population, and it is never combined with any IQ score you take here.

It measures a skill, not a self-image

We show you realistic situations where some responses genuinely work better than others — not a self-report personality quiz (“I am a calm person”), which is easy to game.

The four branches

A short, focused assessment — 32 questions across the four branches of emotional intelligence. They are Perceiving emotion, Using emotion, Understanding emotion, and Managing emotion.
